BCP is developing a large-scale REDD+ Project in Mozambique. This project will be implemented across 12 districts in 4 provinces in Central and Southern Mozambique, covering approximately 4 million hectares. It aims to benefit over 318,940 local community members and is preliminarily estimated to reduce GHG emissions by 31,966,125 tCO2e over a 30-year span. The position requires establishing and maintaining strong working relationships and ties with key GRZ partners in Zambia including DNPW, the Forestry Department, and Community Resource Boards, and with equivalent front-line ministries and departments in Angola and Mozambique in order to reach zero deforestation rates in project areas, while instilling a community-based approach towards restoring wildlife and habitat protection and sustainable management in project areas. The position requires advanced partnership and team building abilities, as well as skills in data management, conducting fieldwork in rural Africa, advanced spreadsheet skills, excellent English writing skills, knowledge of forest management and conservation methodologies, as well as a willingness to live in Zambia and travel regionally.
