BCP is recruiting a Regional REDD+ Climate Outreach Specialist to support BCP in a new phase of project development, with expansions underway across Zambia and into Mozambique and Angola, we are looking for a dynamic outreach specialist, with specific knowledge and experience of climate change and REDD+ in the region to join our team. We want everyone to be involved in shaping a more sustainable, fairer world, and it is within this role to ensure our community partners trust, support, and have a say in the changes we must make to tackle climate change. An outreach specialist is a professional who works directly with the community to promote the benefits of REDD+ and the impacts of climate change in the region.

The position will foster dialogue with rural and urban communities, as well as stakeholders involved in economic development, natural resources, and our youth. This multi-disciplinary approach fosters a greater understanding of each group’s needs and contributions to create and improve social capital in communities. The Specialist is also well-positioned to identify and assemble resources, as well as to develop training materials and webinars on risk management strategies.

Responsibilities:

• Bridge the gap between communities in rural areas, and international investors in the global market space
• Identify and foster relationships with existing community leaders and organizers
• Support ongoing community programs with logistical and material coordination
• Recognize emerging issues and leaders, and create frameworks for community organizers
• Develop and lead educational programs designed to improve community leadership capacity
• Produce world-leading advice and practical tools for engagement by combining scientific research methods with years of hands-on experience.

Alliance Builders Wanted:

Masters in a related field will be an added advantage and 2 years of professional experience working in a Climate Change related position.

Skills:

• World-class carbon standards skills with substantial outreach and communication knowledge
• Experience working in climate change and forest conservation
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience facilitating large groups and seminars
• Ability to foster emerging leadership
• Beginners Portuguese
• Expert in Canva, Mailchimp, WordPress, and Indesign Management
• Ability to build and maintain online carbon calculation tools.
