None other than our very own, Interim CEO, Nic Mudaly has been awarded with the Title of Renewable Energy CFO of the Year (Africa) in 2022. Recognized for his dedication, diligence and innovation as BCP’s CFO up until he took over as Interim CEO at the start of 2022.
For Nic, his goal is simple –
‘To continue to grow and evolve. TheCarbon market is such a dynamic and fast paced one. Yet, it is also
so fresh and volatile. The rules have not been fully established yet,
it is very much up to us, the companies at the forefront of this sector, who are achieving verification and validation of the highest standards to set the pace. I believe that being a leading player in this field is an opportunity in itself. Successfully navigating the level that we aim to scale will be a defining moment in my career and I am so excited to be on this journey!’

The events of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the subsequent aftermath over the past 18 months has upended the CFO’s objectives and brought about dramatic changes to the way businesses react. Businesses have had to look to their leaders in finance to provide their expertise in financial advisory. Today’s CFOs drive the direction and success of the organizations they work in, using their knowledge and understanding of the financial position of the company. The pandemic has clearly demonstrated the need for companies to be more agile. Whatever industry or size of business, CFOs need to try and pivot their organizations, processes and systems to stay ahead of the most demanding accounting challenges.
The Global CFO Excellence Awards 2022 honors those who have amalgamated the modern skillset that CFO’s have adapted to, and who possess the ability to take a business and transcend to the next level as a result of their commitment to displaying leadership, supporting strategy development, and possessing a greater focus on governance! To determine the victors of the Global CFO Excellence Awards 2022, the research team gathered information independently from a variety of publicly accessible sources, which are assessed alongside any material supplied by a nominating party or the nominee themselves. The judging panel uses the case file built by the research team and any supporting evidence submitted by the nominee to make the decision as to who was successful in the programme.
To move successfully from nominee to winner there must be evidence of expertise within a given field, dedication to customer service and client satisfaction with an ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation. The judging panel is entirely unbiased and consists of an international, collective of individuals, with backgrounds from a myriad of fields, such as business, economy, politics, media, journalism, history and education. The panel is led by a veteran academic leader with international pedagogic and coaching experience who is well versed in research, fact-checking and mediation; allowing the panel to operate with efficacy and dependability.
All nominees are placed within specific categories along with other shortlisted parties – winners are chosen using a number of factors such as previous accolades, customer/client reviews, products and services offered.
The judging panel casts their final judgement based on various criteria such as, but not limited to: Strategy; Leadership; Confidence. All of which embodies Nic as a leader.
