Training Spotlight: Leveraging Conservation Tech for Smarter Wildlife Monitoring

This month, BCP’s Conservation Team participated in an intensive, hands-on training program delivered by the Tuskline Wildlife Research and Training Institute, focusing on strengthening our field and digital conservation toolkit.

Over four impactful days, our team deepened their expertise in:

  • Camera Trap Setup & Deployment – essential for non-invasive wildlife monitoring;
  • SMART Technology – enabling better data collection and patrol tracking;
  • GIS for Conservation – mapping habitat changes and planning interventions;
  • Wildlife Insight & Conservation AI – using artificial intelligence to identify species and monitor biodiversity trends.

The practical component, held at Eureka Campsite in Lusaka, provided our team with real-world experience in deploying camera traps and reviewing footage in the field, capturing wildlife in their natural habitat.

Why does this matter?

Strong conservation outcomes start with knowledge, precision, and innovation. By investing in our people, we’re building internal capacity to collect accurate data, adapt to challenges, and safeguard biodiversity more effectively across all our REDD+ landscapes.

Training like this isn’t just a technical upgrade—it’s a long-term investment in community-based conservation, scientific integrity, and climate resilience.

At BCP, we believe that the more we learn, the better we protect.
