SMART is used to collect, measure, and evaluate data to improve the effectiveness of wildlife conservation efforts. The approach covers three areas, which include: cutting-edge technology, building conservation capacity, and empowering a global network of SMART conservation practitioners.
Last week BCP spearheaded SMART data collection training in Nyimba with the Department of National Parks & Wildlife and 14 dedicated Wildlife Police Officers. The opportunity to share knowledge, skills, and expertise is vital to our shared efforts to safeguard wildlife in Zambia.
The SMART platform consists of a set of software and analysis tools designed to help conservationists manage and protect wildlife and wild places. The benefits of this include; standardized and streamlined data collection, analysis, and reporting; making it easier for key information to get from Community Scouts and Officers in the field back to our team at HQ.
